Lyrics:
You gave me your heart
I gave mine to you
You shattered me like fragile glass
Broke me into a million pieces
Haunting me like demons
Why’d you do this to me?
You gave me your love
I shared mine with you
Over time your cracks made me blind I thought we would always align
Pour glue and we’ll be fine
How’d I miss the signs?
CHORUS
Then you told me I was the one
Your only sea, your shining sun
But you broke me like glass, we’re now in the past
Cause I’m better without you anyway
You gave me your times
I wasted mine with you
When you revealed your truest self
Tried to hurt me, but I’m fine
I was so damn blind
Was I out of my mind?
CHORUS
Then you told me I was the one Your only sea, your shining sun But you broke me like glass, we’re now in the past
Cause I’m better without you anyway
BRIDGE
Unbreakable
I’m bulletproof
There is no use, no longer confused
Unbreakable
I’m bulletproof
Cause now I know the truth about you
CHORUS
Then you told me I was the one your only sea, your shining sun But those were just lies, so here’s my goodbye
Cause I’m better without you anyway
Artist’s Statement: The idea for “Better Without You” comes from a story a close friend told me. Written during 9th grade, it was one of the first songs I ever wrote and is the song that pushed me to continue writing music after the recognition it received by the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA). I hope you enjoy listening!
