One More Bruise

Artist Statement:

This is a very special art piece of mine because it deals with a topic that is not spoken about nearly enough, Type One Diabetes (T1D). I was diagnosed with T1D when I was only eleven years old, and I remember that day like it was yesterday. By the end of the day, all of my fingers were bruised from all of the times I had to measure my blood sugar, or in other words, have my finger pricked. Since then, I have learned so much about my condition and how to handle it without being so scared. My goal with my art piece, “One More Bruise,” is to spread awareness of Type One Diabetes, and help the people who are silently going through the same thing feel less alone.
