Hi, I’m Tova Weiss (she/her), a member of the class of 2026 in Ann Arbor, MI! I started telling stories before I could even hold a pen, according to family lore. I’ve been a member of the jGirls+ editorial board since 2023. In 2024, I participated in Concentrate Media's Voices of Youth Program, during which I wrote articles about issues and initiatives impacting local youth. I was also accepted into Jewish Telegraphic Agency's Teen Journalism Fellowship, where I honed my journalistic skills writing about the experiences of Jewish teens. I’m always looking for new opportunities to grow as a writer and expand my understanding of the creative world. I play violin, flute, and tenor saxophone in ensembles both in and outside of school, in addition to learning solo repertoire. I’m also extremely passionate about social advocacy. I’ve worked with a number of social justice–oriented organizations, including as the incoming chair of the Washtenaw County Youth Commission, a local council dedicated to improving the lives of youth in the area. I hope to one day work in human services and/or education as a teacher or counselor, while keeping creativity and activism as integral parts of my work.
