My name is Sydney Burgess, and I am a senior at The Madeira School in Virginia. I am the cochair of the Butterfly Books Nonprofit Advisory Board, where I work to promote literacy in underserved communities. I also recently completed the Jewish Women's Archive Rising Voices Fellowship focused on writing experience. I campaign for equal cultural acknowledgement and wider food options for Jewish students as a member of my school’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice Committee. In my free time, I swim, write for and edit my school newspaper, and volunteer with younger kids.
