Hi! My name is Hannah Gumpert (she/her), and I’m a member of the class of 2027 at New West Charter in Los Angeles, CA. I’ve loved reading and writing for as long as I can remember, and I am passionate about social justice and Judaism. I’m also interested in science—my dream life is to be a geneticist by day, writer by night. I have been published in literary magazines including WriteGirl’s Lines & Breaks and Joseph’s Inkwell, and I received an American Voices medal from the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. Additionally, this year I am a fellow in the Rising Voices Fellowship program at the Jewish Women’s Archive.
Latin has consistently ranked high on my list of favorite classes throughout high school, and I’m a member of my school’s Junior Classical League chapter, with which I go to Latin conventions and participate in a community of nerds breathing life into a dead language. Additionally, I love theater! I’ve been a part of the L.A. Shakespeare Youth Festival for almost a decade, go to shows across the city with my friends, and interned at TeenTix LA. When I’m not absorbed in a book or frantically typing, you can find me playing with my two little brothers, hanging out at a coffee shop with friends, or attempting to teach Torah to first graders at my synagogue’s Hebrew school. I’m so excited to continue my journey as a part of the jGirls+ community!
