My name is Emily Maremont (she/her/hers), and I am a member of the class of 2025 at University High School in San Francisco, California. I was a 2024 YoungArts Winner with Distinction in Writing/Creative Nonfiction. My paper on the 504 Sit-in for disability rights was the 3rd place winner for the 4th Annual Fracchia Prize of the San Francisco Historical Society. My essays appear in Apprentice Writer and Skipping Stones Magazine. In addition, my plays have received readings at the Potrero Stage in San Francisco and at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. I have studied creative writing through the Adroit Journal Summer Mentorship Program, Kelly Writers House Summer Workshop for Young Writers, the Iowa Young Writers’ Studio, and Ellipsis Writing.

Outside of writing, I study the art of mime and sing in my school’s a cappella group, the Satonics. As an editor, I take pride in empowering other young writers. I can’t wait for another amazing year at jGirls+!
