I applied to jGirls+ to engage with Jewish journalism and gain experience in editing. Additionally, I hope to become part of a wonderfully open and intelligent community, and to grow as both a journalist and as a person.
Hey! My name is Ella Persky, and I'm a member of the class of 2025 at Mountain View High School in Mountain View, CA. At school, I am part of our student-run newspaper, the dance program, and the Jewish Student Union. Outside of school, I work for a local nonprofit publication and dance competitively! In my free time, I like trying new chocolate-infused recipes, reading realistic fiction, and spending time with my close friends. In the past few years, I've become infinitely more involved in my local Jewish community, and I now spend a lot of my time and energy learning more about Judaism and Israel's history. I'm lucky to have an Ashkenazi father and a Sephardic mother, who have given me an especially vibrant Jewish upbringing. I am very excited to join this wonderful community and learn even more during my time with jGirls+!
