Winter

1
Protesters march near a cardboard sign that says "Migration is an act of courage" surrounded by monarch butterflies.

Winter is cold and heartless
It attacks us all
And cares not for who is hurt
With winter comes ice

Ice creeps up through the shadows
As we try to prepare
Some choose to ignore it
So that soon we all will freeze

In this bitter cold we long for warmth
For nature’s rebirth
Will we all feel the warmth
When ice refuses to melt?

We cannot wait for spring
When there is a frozen heart
Refusing to thaw
A heart that stays frozen for all seasons

We will fight against this cruel winter
We must become spring
And bring our own warmth into a frozen world
We can melt the ice
